The Newport Library on Spring Street has gone nautical this summer with its “Oceans of Possibilities” reading challenge through Aug. 12. Among the special programs is one on July 19, at 10 a.m., when children will learn about the relationship between animals and water.
Save the Bay will visit throughout the summer and the library also offers “Take and Make” craft projects on sharks, starfish and more. Everything is free. They also have guest cards for Mystic Seaport and the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
In the children’s section, you’ll see the waterfront with nautical creatures, and the little houses reading spaces, with large stuffed creatures wearing sailor’s hats. There are games, puzzles and programs for all ages, from babies up to 12-years-old.
