RI Marine Archaeology Classes

The Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project (RIMAP) is now offering a training program to those interested in participating in local research projects.

The April 15 intro class will be held at the Warwick Public Library, but the other classes will be at RIMAP’s artifact management facility on the campus of the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol.

There are several classes in April, including Basic Artifact Management and Ship Construction for Archaeologists.

RIMAP’s membership and training are open to the general public, but pre-registration is required, and all RIMAP volunteers must complete the introduction class.

Prior to the April slate, there is also a class on Saturday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, on Museums, Preserves and Sharing Shipwrecks. RIMAP membership is $40 per year; and the fee for each half-day class is $50. For an application, visit rimap.org, call 401-253-2094 or email rhodeislandmap@yahoo.com.
