RECENT DEATHS



James D. Berry Jr., 98, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 11, 2016 at Mary Immaculate Health Care Service, Lawrence, Mass. He was the husband of the late Myrtle (Peckham) Berry. He leaves behind his sons, James Berry III (Torry) of Las Vegas and Donald Berry of Middletown, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02115.

Rita M. Busuttil, 69, of Newport, passed away Jan. 13, 2016 at Newport Hospital. She spent the majority of her time giving back to the community as a volunteer with the Salvation Army. A celebration of her life was held Jan. 20.

Alice M. Cardoza, 85, of Newport, passed away Jan. 15, 2016 at Newport Hospital. She leaves behind her partner and caregiver, Geno DeAscentis, of Newport. Funeral services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 Richmond St., Suite 204, Providence, RI 02906.

Edward M. Geoghegan, of Tiverton, formerly of Newport, passed away Jan. 18, 2016 at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. He leaves behind his wife, Lorena (Fenerty) Geoghegan, four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard and retired after a 37-year career with National Grid. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 24, from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home.
