Pell Elementary held a school-wide assembly on Monday, March 12, to mark the beginning of a two-week “Gratitude Campaign.” The larger initiative, called “Look For The Good Project,” is a Connecticut based non-profit organization that has inspired thousands of kids nationally and internationally to uplift their school communities with gratitude and kindness. Pell is the first school in Rhode Island to participate in such an initiative, which is aimed at reducing bullying and spreading compassion and acceptance.

Every day, students are to find Orange “Gratitude Spots” throughout the school, which have been placed as reminders for them to stop, take a moment, and think about something or someone they are grateful for in their lives. Colorful sticky notes carrying their sentiments of gratitude, kindness and inspiration will create “Gratitude Walls” along the hallways and cafeteria. With each student writing one sticky note per day for ten days, Pell expects to have a rainbow of over 9,000 sentiments on display.
