During the period from Monday, March 28 through Sunday, April 3 the Newport Police Department responded to 475 calls. Of those, 94 were motor vehicle related; there were 79 motor vehicle violations issued and 15 accident reports.
Police responded to 4 calls of vandalism, 10 noise complaints, 8 animal complaints, 7 suspicious persons or vehicles, and 44 parking complaints. They performed 17 school security checks, and 3 home/business alarm calls/checks. They transported 3 prisoners, assisted 2 other police departments and 3 other agencies.
In addition, 15 arrests were made for the following violations:
- 2 were made for domestic simple assault
- 2 were made for public urination
- 3 were made for driving with a suspended license
- 2 were made for domestic disorderly conduct
- 2 were made for disorderly-fighting
- 1 was made for simple assault
- 1 was made for DUI
- 1 was made for injuring/tampering with vehicles
- 1 was made for larceny- auto theft over $1500
During the period from Monday, March 28 through Sunday, April 3 the Middletown Police Department made 6 arrests for the following violations:
- 2 were made for DUI
- 1 was made for a warrant
- 1 was made for domestic violence
- 1 was made for forgery/counterfeiting
- 1 was made for fraudulent use of credit cards
