During the period from Monday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 03 the Newport Police Department responded to 535 calls. Of those, 117 were motor vehicle related; there were 93 motor vehicle violations issued and 24 accident reports.
Police responded to 6 calls of vandalism, 10 animal complaints, 19 suspicious persons or vehicles, 19 noise complaints, and 68 parking complaints. They performed 12 home/business alarm calls/checks, 14 school security checks, transported 1 prisoner and escorted 1 funeral. They assisted 6 other police departments and 1 other agency.
In addition, 12 arrests were made for the following violations:
2 were made for possession of marijuana
2 were made for driving with a suspended license
2 were made for reckless driving
2 were made for disorderly conduct
1 was made for shoplifting
1 was made for open container
1 was made for DUI
1 was made for driving with an expired license
During the period from Friday, Sept. 24 through Thursday, Sept. 30 the Middletown Police Department made 5 arrests for the following violations:
3 were made for possession of drugs with the intent to manufacture or deliver
1 was made for domestic abuse enforcement of foreign protective orders
1 was made fraudulent use of credit cards
