The 33rd annual Newport Regatta, hosted by Sail Newport, will begin Friday, July 7 with four of the 17 One Design classes; the J/70s, the 110s, the Melges 20s, and the RS Aeros.

Racing for all 17 classes, the J/70, 110, Melges 20, RS Aero, Swan 42, Etchells, J/70, Melges 20, J/24, Ensign 210, 505, F18, VX ONE, 110, Laser, 29er, RS Aero, 2.4mR, Comet and the M32s, will continue over the weekend with the silverware being handed out after racing on Sunday, July 9.

This annual regatta is the largest multi-class one-design regatta on the East Coast.

Racing will take place across five-race circles, which will stretch from the two race courses offshore to those inside the bay around Rose and Goat islands and north of the Pell Bridge at Potters Cove.

Sailors representing 15 states and three countries will make up the hundreds of competitors.

Spectators can view the races from locations along the shore for the course areas on the bay, while Brenton Point and Castle Hill provide great vantage points for racing on the offshore race circles.
