During the period from Monday, Oct. 7 through Monday, Oct 14, the Newport Police Department responded to 839 calls. Of those, 143 were motor vehicle related; there were 117 motor vehicle violations issued and 26 accident reports.
Police responded to 4 noise violations, 11 suspicious vehicles or persons, 12 animal complaints, 3 private tows, 1 suicide call and 53 parking complaints. They performed 31 home or business alarm checks, 25 school security checks, and transported 7 prisoners. They assisted 5 other police departments and 3 other agencies.
In addition, 17 arrests or citations were made for the following violations:
- 3 were made for disorderly conduct
- 3 were made for violation of no contact order
- 2 were made for domestic simple assault
- 2 were made for driving without a license
- 1 was made for sexual assault
- 1 was made for bench warrant
- 1 was made for DUI
- 1 was made for contributing to the delinquency of a minor
- 1 was made for vandalism
- 1 was made for possession of drugs
- 1 was made for larceny
