During the period from Monday, April 15 through Monday, April 22, the Newport Police Department responded to 525 calls. Of those, 134 were motor vehicle related; there were 110 motor vehicle violations issued and 24 accident reports.
Police responded to 3 noise violations, 3 calls of vandalism, 17 animal complaints, 20 suspicious persons or vehicles, 1 suicide call, 2 private tows and 60 parking complaints. They performed 1 school security check, 19 home/ business alarm calls/checks, and transported 4 prisoners. They assisted 3 other police departments and 2 other agencies.
In addition, 15 arrests were made for the following violations:
- 3 were made for domestic simple assault
- 2 were made for bench warrants
- 2 were made for disorderly conduct
- 2 were made for simple assault
- 1 was made for domestic breaking and entering
- 1 was made for DUI
- 1 was made for leaving the scene of a collision
- 1 was made driving without a license or expired
- 1 was made for an open container
- 1 was made for driving with a suspended or revoked license
