Newport This Week

Earth Day Projects Continue

Volunteers from National Grid supported Earth Day 2017 and the City of Newport on May 3 by mulching, planting and pruning the gardens of the Edward King House, painting the rails around Aquidneck Park and fluffing the mulch around the playground in the park. “We are so happy that National Grid has found such a wonderful way to partner with the city to help check some items off the city’s to-do list,” said Bill Riccio, director of public services. The event was delayed since the April Earth Day due to rain. “We are happy to give back to the community in this way. It is an annual tradition that we are so proud of,” National Grid’s Community and Customer Manager Jacques Afonso said. (Photo Contributed by Carmela Geer)
