Newport This Week

Drum Circle for Peace

Christopher Kavi Carbone beats out the leading rhythm earlier this week at the first gathering of Drum Circle for Peace, a new interactive program being offered by the St. Paul’s Methodist Church’s faith community on the third Tuesday of the month throughout the fall. Carbone, expressive arts facilitator and community music educator, welcomes and encourages all skill levels, from novice to more experienced. Drums and rhythm instruments are provided, but participants should also feel free to bring their own. The program is co-sponsored by Present Moment Arts and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, along with support of a community grant from the United Methodist Foundation of New England. Oct. 18 and Nov. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Barber Hall. 12 Marlborough St. 401-846-0966.
