In the Oct. 17 article, “A Symbol of Religious Freedom and Democracy,” the site (not the building) of Touro Synagogue was was purchased in 1759. Also, the annual reading of the George Washington Letter takes place in the synagogue, not at the Loeb Visitors Center.
