Portsmouth Goes Purple

In celebration of Wellness Week with Herren Project, March 7 to 12, the Portsmouth Prevention Coalition invites residents to join the Portsmouth Goes Purple ini­tiative. Portsmouth residents are asked to decorate their mailboxes and/or front doors to show their support for the majority of stu­dents who make the choice to stay substance-free and to encourage overall well-being.

To learn about the opioid epi­demic and how everyone can help, a Circles and Silence presentation will be made Wednesday, March 9, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Portsmouth Free Public Library. To learn more, call David Neill at 401-709-5035.

Navy Choristers Concert

The Newport Navy Choristers will present “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” on March 6, at 4 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth. Partial proceeds will benefit the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society. Middletown Wellness Month

Wellness Month provides op­portunities for Middletowners to be active by taking part in fitness classes, games, team sports and family activities. The Prevention Coalition was formed in 1988 to fight underage drinking and drug use, a mission that has expanded to promote physical and mental well­ness. This year’s initiative includes new activities and partnerships with other community organiza­tions and practitioners. To draw additional attention to the cause, the coalition and its volunteers will be “painting” the town purple. For updates, visit

Mosaic Club

The Mosaic Club of Newport County will hold its next meeting on Thursday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at The Wayfinder, 151 Admiral Kalbfus Road. An Irish step dancing troupe will entertain, dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Membership in the Mosaic Club is open to those in­terested in charitable, educational, and social and service-oriented ac­tivities.
