Clear blue skies returned for Newport Mental Health’s annual fundraiser on Oct. 5, “Rock the Mansion.” Held at the Eisenhower House, guests were treated to a view of the cruise ship Meraviglia departing out of Newport Harbor as they gathered for cocktails on the lawn.
Each year, Newport Mental Health provides over $1 million in free care. “Rock the Mansion” supports efforts to provide individual and group counseling, emergency service engagements, job training and client transportation. Job training includes a recently launched program with CCRI for case managers that combines tuition-free schooling with a paid internship at Newport Mental Health.
Board chair Joyce Kirby thanked guests for supporting the organization, who included Rep. Lauren Carson,
Rep. Marvin Abney, Mark and Ida Aramli, Robert and Carolyn Silva, Marlena and Mark Horan, and Elizabeth Allen. Gala chair Madeline Turano said it was wonderful to see so many returning faces, along with new ones, before thanking sponsor Jeff Lipshires, of J2Construct.
In between dinner by McGrath Clambakes and dancing to the DownCity Band, guests bid on items from The Vanderbilt, Love Defeats Fear, Susan Petree and Thrive Pilates. There was also a live auction, featuring a “Newport Escape Package” with a two-night stay at the Hotel Viking, dinner for two at the Chanler and a gift card to the Platinum House. Packages of a “carpenter for a day,” provided by Horan Building Company, and a “painter for a day,” for Bruno Painting, were also hits with the crowd.
