Temple Shalom

Rosh Hashanah: New Year 5779 Sunday evening, Sept. 9, 7:30 p.m., Erev (evening of) Rosh Hashanah, Monday morning, Sept. 10, 9:30 a.m., first day of Rosh Hashanah. Traditional service with sounding of the Shofar. Immediately after services, Tashlich, the symbolic casting away of sins. Don't forget to bring bread or crackers.

Yom Kippur: Day of Atonement Kol Nidre service, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 6:15 p.m., Stephen Martorella, organist, will accompany Rabbi Stein and Cantor Scheff. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m., morning and Musaf services. Afternoon break for meditation and reflection, Services resume at 4:30 p.m., Torah service and Yizkor (memorial prayers for the deceased), N'ilah (concluding) service following afternoon services. The shofar will sound for the holiday's conclusion. Everyone is cordially invited to break-the-fast after services.

Newport Havurah

The Newport Havurah, an Association of Reform Jews, will hold High Holiday services at Newport Historical Society, 82 Touro St., tickets are not required. 401-423-0407,

Yom Kippur: Sept. 18-19 Erev Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7:30 p.m., morning service, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m., afternoon service, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 4:30 p.m. (Yizkor and concluding service). Break the Fast, a potluck kosher-style meal will follow the afternoon service at the Historical Society.

Touro Synagogue

Touro Synagogue welcomes guests for High Holiday services. The cost is $85 per person for either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur or $135 for both holidays.
