Newport Police Log

During the period from Monday, June 18 through Monday, June 25 the Newport Police Department responded to 714 calls. Of those, 155 were motor vehicle related; there were 123 motor vehicle violations issued and 33 accident reports.

Police responded to 11 calls of vandalism, 23 noise complaints, 19 animal complaints, 1 suicide call 9 suspicious persons or vehicles, 3 private tows, 1 bicycle violation and 103 parking complaints. They performed 28 home/business alarm calls/checks, and 31 school security checks. They transported 1 prisoner, escorted 1 funeral and assisted 5 other police departments and 1 agency.

In addition, 26 arrests were made for the following violations:

4 were made disorderly conduct

3 were made for shoplifting

2 were made for simple assault

2 were made for open container

2 were made for DUI

2 were made for driving with a suspended or revoked license

2 were made for possession of marijuana

1 was made for possession of drugs with the intent to manufacture or deliver

1 was made for driving without a license or expired

1 was made for underage drinking

1 was made for indecent exposure

1 was made for not stopping during an accident involving motor vehicles

1 was made for domestic simple assault

1 was made for domestic vandalism

1 was made for domestic disorderly conduct

1 was made for domestic breaking and entering
