Educational Innovation

Students, instructors and staff prepare the Tree House, an innovative educational program at Rogers High School, for Arbor Day on April 27. Left to right, instructor Nick Castrataro of URI; student Nijah Johnson; Jon Greenberg of Newport Tree Society; student Noah Erausquin; and Rogers teacher Nancy Noonan work on a project at The Tree House, a new interactive facility that serves as both a working nursery and classroom. It will be open for public viewing on April 27 at 12:30 p.m. At the official Arbor Day program at 2 p.m., City of Newport Mayor Harry Winthrop will recognize the Tree House for its educational innovation and the late Rogers Vice Principal Jaime Crowley for his educational leadership. A tree will be planted in Vice Principal Crowley’s honor during the ceremony. (Photo by Lily Herberger)
