Tunnel Vision

Often called Gull Rock Tunnel, this lush 2016 image of the seaside portal is south of the Chinese Tea House, near the rocky portion of the Cliff Walk close to Rough Point. Every year, Clean Ocean Access (COA) helps the Cliff Walk Commission to create a photo journal of the entire walk. The recently completed journal of about 150 photos taken in late 2017 by Sophie Podlich, a COA intern and URI senior, serves a valuable purpose in making sure there is a record of the walk. “Cliff Walk is beautiful at any time of year and without people on the walk, it allowed me to see changes in the path and surrounding environments,” said Podlich. In her journal, each photo includes the exact photo location stated with GPS coordinates, and the time and date the photo was taken.
