Journey Dance

Rev. Jennifer Pedrick, the priest at St. Mary's Church, 324 E. World Sound Healing Day

‘Renewal and New Beginnings’

Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, will continue its series, “Renewal and New Beginnings,” on Sunday, Feb. 11, from 9-9:45 a.m., in Honyman Hall. The focus will be on renewal and resistance. The Feb. 18 session will deal with renewal and inclination. The series is based on the prayer for renewal, and discussions will focus on new ways in which spiritual lives can begin again. Prayer for Peace

St. Paul’s Church, 12 Marlborough St., has guest soloists and local musicians participate each Sunday in the 10 a.m. service. On Feb. 11, the Newport Community Chanting group will lead the congregation in a “Prayer for Peace.” All are invited to join the congregation in this practice of mindfulness through song. 401-846-0966.

Circle of Soul

Circle of Soul brings together sacred sound, song and rhythm to nourish hearts, build positive spirit and create community. Creative Journaling

Mardi Gras Fundraiser

A Mardi Gras fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 7-8 p.m., at Seamen’s Church Institute, 18 Market Square. It will feature a cabaret, desserts and a silent auction. The event will benefit the 2018 England tour by the St. John’s Adult Choir and Professional Choristers. Admission is $20 plus a dessert to share. 401-848-2561.

Ash Wednesday Services

Book Group

The Emmanuel Church book group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the church’s guild room, 42 Dearborn St., to discuss great works of literature. On Feb. 20, at 6 p.m., the group will discuss “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry,” by Fredrick Backman. All are welcome.
