Animate Bible Study Series

St. Mary’s Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth will offer the animate Bible study series on Sundays, beginning Jan. 7. The seven-week program includes discussion, video and a journal. Journals are not required but are necessary for full participation. They will be ordered the first week in January. Sign up to get one at any service or email gabe@smcportsmouth.org to register. Journals cost $15, and is due when class begins. Scholarships are available to those who need them. The program is appropriate for adults and youth. 401-846-9700.

Service of Lessons and Carols

Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will offer a service of lessons and carols on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 9:30 a.m. 401- 423-1651.

Discipleship Class

Crosspoint Church, 14 Rhode Island Ave., will offer a 9-week study on Christian foundations. Two options are available: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from Jan. 9-March 6, or Wednesdays at 7 p.m. from Jan. 10-March 7. For more information, call 401-846-3064.

Emmanuel Church Book Club

Piano and Violin Concert

St. Matthew’s Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will host a free concert of piano and violin featuring Daniel Kurganov and Constantine Finehouse on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. 401-423-1762.

‘Living with Conscious Abandon’

Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will offer five sessions of “Living with Conscious Abandon” on Mondays from 1-2:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, and a day in May to be announced. The group will focus on personal reflection of both Christian and Eastern spiritual guidelines in living each day with conscious awareness of personal intention, thought, speech and actions. The group will gather to share its responses to daily reflections that will be of use in living lives with wisdom, integrity and compassion. The reference guide will be “Living and Dying with Confidence: A Day by Day Guide,” by Anyen Rinpoche and Allison Choying Zangmo. The guide can be purchased on Amazon for $11. The class is free. Warm Up Wednesdays

St. Paul’s Church, 12 Marlborough St., will hold Warm Up Wednesdays in Barber Hall through the winter months from 1-4 p.m. Hot coffee, tea and refreshments are available. 401-846-0966.

St. Lucy’s Food Pantry Needs

St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, needs donations to help replenish its food pantry during the winter months. Requested items include peanut butter, jelly, boxed crackers, pasta, Campbell’s chunky soup (beef and chicken), Chef Boyardee (all varieties), Progresso soups, canned vegetables (corn, peas, green beans, carrots) canned meats and cereal. 401-847-6153.

Warming Center

The Seamen’s Church Institute, 18 Market Square, offers its fourth annual 24-hour warming center in the event of a cold weather or storm emergency. 401-847-4260.
