Giving Back

Students from Salve Regina University joined Chef Al Meehan in the kitchen of the Salvation Army on Nov. 19 to prepare an early Thanksgiving dinner for area residents. Naval officers volunteered as well, handing out more than 100 meals. In addition to stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn and

24 pies prepared by volunteers, St. Lucy’s Church donated 10 turkeys, which staff from Hotel Viking cooked that morning and delivered to the Salvation Army. Here, Meehan, who has prepared this meal each November for the last 15 years, joins his Salve volunteers as they take a short break from giving back to their community. (Photos by Lynne Tungett)
