Big Changes for Downtown

REALITY NOW

The Newport Spring Leadership and Advisory Committees as well as members of the public participated in a public process in March 2016 during which four preferred landscape design elements surfaced. They include: some representation of the original town spring to the north at the base of Barney Street, a central space for gathering that maintains views between the Old Colony House and the Touro Synagogue, providing an opportunity for the discussion of religious freedom in Rhode Island; trees and sidewalks that connect the project site to Washington Square.
