Shabbat Service

The final October service for Temple Shalom will be a Kabbalat Shabbat, welcoming the Sabbath, on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. The service will be led by Cantor Fred Scheff. An Oneg Shabbat, good company and refreshments, will follow.

Penny Social

‘Remembering Ceremony’

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m., the Rev. Bill Zelazny will conduct a nondenominational remembering ceremony at Channing Memorial Church, 135 Pelham St., to celebrate those who died. After a brief memorial service people will have the opportunity to light a candle in silence and place it in the Remembrance Wall. All people, regardless of their faith, are invited. 401-846-0643.

YES! Dance!

All are welcome and experience is not necessary to attend "YES! Dance!." Sessions are the first Wednesday of the month. The next session is on Nov. 1 at St. Paul’s Barber Hall, 12 Marlborough St., from 5:45-6:45 p.m. 401-846-0966.

‘Our Town’

The CBC Players’ will present Thornton Wilder’s play, ‘Our Town,” on Nov. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Tickets can be bought at the door for $12-$14. Proceeds will help support hurricane efforts. 401-423-1651.

All Saints Evensong

On Sunday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m., Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will celebrate All Saints Sunday with an All Saints Evensong. Evensong is a service of sung prayers for the evening. The Nov. 5 service will feature organ and choral music followed by a simple reception. Everyone in the community is welcome. 401-847-0675.

Candlelight Concert

St. John’s Church, 61 Poplar St., will present a candlelight concert of remembrance benefiting national and international disaster relief, on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. The St. John’s adult choir and the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County will be joined for two pieces by the Newport Navy Choristers. The program celebrates All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, Remembrance Sunday and Veterans’ Day. Tickets are $20-$50 and are available at the door or online at brownpapertickets.com/ event/3115782.
