CNA Training

A Health Care Certified Nursing Assistant job skills training program is being offered for Newport County residents beginning Oct. 23 by East Bay Skills Alliance, a program of East Bay Community Action Program.

Those interested in participating must attend one information and testing session, which will be offered on the following dates: Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. - noon; and Thursday, Oct. 12, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at East Bay Community Action Program, 19 Broadway. Applications for the program will be distributed at the end of each information session.

The training will consist of five weeks of work readiness/soft skills, resume and interviewing preparation, and 10 weeks of certified nursing assistant instruction. A 120-day temporary license will be issued after successful completion of the CNA training. Classes will meet for five and one-half hours per day, five days per week. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Cost to students is $5 for BCI during enrollment, $114 testing fee, and $35 licensing fee due just before clinical.
