Tutors Needed

Many adult residents need help with the basics including reading, writing, math, English conversation, basic computer skills, citizenship, career coaching and more. Literacy Volunteers is looking for people who would like to help other adults reach their goals. Training sessions will be held Sept. 23, 27, and 30 and Oct. 3 and 4, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Portsmouth Library. Prior teaching experience is not necessary. The two Saturday sessions will be from 9:30 a.m. until noon. These interactive workshops will teach tutors the techniques and best practices for working with adult learners. Once matched with a student, tutors work with students a minimum of two hours a week. Contact Elizabeth McDowell at 401-247-2177 or literacy@lveb.org for more information and to register.
