The lush green setting glowed with tiny lights in the late summer evening as the 320 supporters enjoyed a spirited cocktail hour with raw bar, silent auction, and lawn games, followed by a dinner from McGrath Clambakes & Catering. Executive Director Chuck Allott and Board Chair Taylor Rock shared details of ALT’s efforts to purchase and conserve Little Creek Preserve, a 15.6-acre former dairy farm in Portsmouth.

A lively crowd pledged $90,000 toward the purchase of property before ‘A Roomful of Blues’ performed onstage. The Gewirz Family was also recognized for its generous support for ALT’s Spruce Acres Farm campaign, which recently concluded with the successful purchase of the property, a former Christmas tree farm. Both Spruce Acres and Little Creek will become publicly-accessible open space, thanks to wide community support. ALT’s next public event is the 5K Race for Open Space on the Sakonnet Greenway Trail, Saturday, Nov. 4. Details and registration now open on the ALT website.
