‘Music on the Lawn’

St. John the Evangelist, 61 Poplar St., will hold three “Music on the Lawn” concerts, from 6-7:45 p.m. Appearing on Tuesday, Aug. 22, will be the Matsiko World Orphan Choir; on Thursday, Aug. 24, the David Amram Trio; and on Thursday, Aug. 31, Doug Woolverton and friends.

Community Meal

Calvary United Methodist Church, 200 Turner Road, Middletown, will serve a community meal on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 3 p.m. 401- 847-6181.

Intergenerational Supper

Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will hold an intergenerational supper on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5:30-8 p.m. The theme is Mexican food. Bring a dish to share. The evening will include a school backpack project for the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Everyone is welcome. 401-847-0675.

Movie Night

“The Maltese Falcon” will be shown on Friday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. Snacks will be available (or feel free to bring your own). Movie Night is held the third Friday of every month and is open to the public. Donations are graciously accepted. 401-847-0675.

Community Yard Sale

St. Peter’s Church, 525 Broadway, will hold a community yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The rain date is set for Saturday, Aug. 26. 401-846-9567.

Gospel Music Festival

Bring a picnic and chairs to the interdenominational Come Alive Gospel Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at King Park on Wellington Avenue. It will feature a mix of contemporary Christian and gospel music. Family Matters, a singing and playing family, and many others will perform.

Movie Night at St. Barnabas

St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth will screen “Clean and Sober” (rated R), Saturday, Aug. 19, from 7-9 p.m. The showing will be behind the parish center. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Pizza will be provided. The movie will be shown rain or shine. All are welcome. 401-683-1343.

Blood Drive

An Afternoon of Fun

Sacred Music Concert

Amram Documentary

Orphan Choir Performs

Four Faiths Walking Tour

There will be a walking tour of four houses of worship on Tuesdays, through Oct. 31, from 1-4 p.m. The tour starts at Touro Synagogue. Summer Concerts

St. Mary’s Church, 12 William St., is offering free organ concerts on Sundays at 3 p.m. throughout the summer. The concerts feature the newly-restored pipe organ and organists from around the region. 401-847-0475.
