‘Music on the Lawn’ Concerts

St. John the Evangelist, 61 Poplar St., will hold four “Music on the Lawn” concerts, from 6-7:45 p.m. Appearing on Thursday, Aug. 10 will be Kevin Sullivan and friends; on Tuesday, Aug. 22, Matsiko World Orphan Choir; on Thursday, Aug. 24, David Amram Trio; and on Thursday, Aug. 31, Doug Woolverton and friends. Seating and tables will be available for those who arrive early. Otherwise, bring blankets and lawn chairs. Food truck service, beer and wine will be available. Donations are appreciated. Lobster Roll Dinner

Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will hold its annual lobster roll dinner on Friday, Aug. 11. Eat in or take out. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and continues until supplies are gone. 401- 423-1651.

Temple Shalom Welcomes Public to Sabbath Services

Temple Shalom will hold Kabbalat Shabbat, a welcoming the Sabbath service on Friday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Services will be led by Cantor Fred Scheff. An Oneg Shabbat will follow. On Saturday, Aug. 12 a Sabbath morning service will be held at 10 a.m. Congregant Rabbi Loel Weiss and Cantor Fred Scheff will lead the services. First Presbyterian Church Yard Sale

St. Columba’s Series on Aging

St. Columba’s Church, 55 Vaucluse Ave., Middletown, will hold a talk on Tuesday, Aug. 15. The topic will be safety for seniors, from Internet and phone scams and making your home safer to driving issues and automobile safety. This free series is open to parishioners and non-parishioners. Sessions begin at 6 p.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes. There will be plenty of time for questions. Refreshments will be served. 401- 847-5571.

Intergeneration Supper

Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St., will hold an intergenerational supper on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5:30-8 p.m. The theme is Mexican food. Bring a dish to share. Everyone is welcome. 401-847-0675.

Movie Night at Emmanuel Church

“The Maltese Falcon” will be shown on Friday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. Snacks will be available (or feel free to bring your own). Movie Night is held the third Friday of every month and is open to the public. Donations are graciously accepted.

Documentary Screening at St. John’s Church

St. Peter’s Church Community Yard Sale

St. Peter’s Church, 525 Broadway, will hold a community yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The rain date is set for Saturday, Aug. 26. 401-846-9567.

Come Alive Gospel Festival

Bring picnics and chairs to the interdenominational Come Alive Gospel Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at King Park on Wellington Avenue. It will feature a mix of contemporary Christian and gospel music. Family Matters, a singing and playing family, and many others will perform.

George Washington Letter Reading

George Washington’s historic letter “To the Hebrew Congregation at Newport” will be read on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. The letter honors religious freedom. An Afternoon of Fun and Games
