Emmanuel Church Intergenerational Supper

Cluny School Mass of Thanksgiving

The public is invited to a Mass of thanksgiving and a reception to be held on the grounds of Cluny School, 75 Brenton Road, Friday, June 30, at 6 p.m., in celebration of the 60-year mission of the school and its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny.

Neighborhood Breakfast

Worship on the Beach

Calvary United Methodist Church, 200 Turner Road, Middletown, will hold worship at Third Beach at 8 a.m. on Sundays in July and August. The 10 a.m. worship will be held in the church. 401-847-6181.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church Summer Concert Series

St. Mary’s Church, 12 William St., will hold half-hour concerts on Sundays at 3 p.m. through September that will showcase the sound and versatility of its one-of-a-kind Casavant pipe organ. Each concert will feature a different program. 401-847-0475.

First Freedom Open House

Celebrate the role of Newport’s historic religious communities in developing America’s commitment to freedom of religion on Tuesday, July 4. Thirteen buildings representing some of America’s most beautiful houses of worship and historic congregations will be open to visitors. Peter Quire Day

A High Mass celebrating the founding of “The Free Chapel of Saint John the Evangelist” by African-American layman Peter Quire will be held on Sunday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at the Zabriskie Memorial Church of Saint John the Evangelist, 57 Washington and Willow Streets, (GPS address nearest parking lot: 25 Willow St.). Rev. Humphrey will be the preacher, and Rev. Martin Yost, SSC, newly-arrived priest-in-residence, will be the celebrant.

This dynamic service with special music features the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County (two dozen professionally trained children from St. John’s and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Newport) and the St. John’s adult choir. 401-848-2561.

‘Bach and Friends at Quarter Till’ Organ Recitals

The “Bach and Friends at Quarter Till” summer weekend organ recital series will be held on Saturdays and Sundays until Sept. 3 at Saint John’s Church, 57 Washington. Programs will be held on Saturdays at 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., Sundays at 5:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. The concerts last for 15 minutes. Admission is 25 cents or any amount you wish. 401-848-2561.
