Barbara Ann Churchill, 70, of Middletown, passed away June 10, 2017, at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph R. Churchill. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 15, from 4-7 p.m., at the Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private.

Mary Ciavarini, 95, of Newport, passed away June 11, 2017, at Village House Nursing Home, Newport.

Dr. William E. Condon, VMD, 71, of Portsmouth, passed away unexpectedly June 6, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Shearman) Condon. Calling hours will be Friday, June 16, from 4-7 p.m. at the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth.

Richard James Haggis, 82, of Newport, passed away June 8, 2017. He was the husband of Dorothy (Cowles) Haggis.

James Richard Holz, 91, of Portsmouth passed away June 13, 2017 at home. He served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War during his 22-year career with the U.S. Navy. He was the husband of the late Catherine Holz and is survived by his wife Frances Giampietro (Martocchio) Holz. Russell A. Johnson, 73, of Portsmouth, passed away June 6, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Marianne DelNero Johnson.

Captain Maylon Truxtun Scott, USN (RET), 96, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, formerly of Newport, passed away May 24, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida following a sudden illness. He was the husband of the late Betty Wilson Chambliss. After his wife, of 60 years Betty, passed away in 2006, he married Marilyn Worden Willis. He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn, a son, Turner Chambliss Scott of Newport, daughters, Carol Leigh Roelker and Susan Scott Martin. A service at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Francis P. Spillane, 66, of Newport, passed away June 6, 2017.

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Heath Twichell Jr., 82, passed away June 10, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was the husband of Mary Twichell. Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 29, from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held June 30, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Church.

William A. Whitehead, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away June 7, 2017. He was the husband of Anna (Dennis) Whitehead.
