Celebrate Bees

June 19-26 is “National Pollinator’s Week.”

In 2007, the U.S. Senate designated a week each June as National Pollinator Week in order to address the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations This week has become an international celebration of the valuable services that bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles provide.

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island will hold a number of events to celebrate the week: June 19-25: Pollination Station: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Free with admission. June 20: 7 p.m. lecture: “Enhancing Pollinator Habitat: Tools for Landowners,” $10, member, $14, nonmembers. June 21: 7 p.m. film screening: “Hometown Habitat - Stories of Bringing Nature Home.” $10 June 25: 11 a.m., Insect Investigation for Families. $5, child of member, $7, nonmember child, ages 4 and up.
