These annual grants began in 2010 when Elizabeth Prince of Newport and her children Guillaume de Ramel, Diana Oehrli, and Regis de Ramel conferred upon Newport Hospital a $3-million grant from the Frederick Henry Prince 1932 Trust. What followed was the creation of the Frederick Henry Prince Memorial Fund, established in partnership with Newport Hospital to accommodate school-aged children who do not have access to other programs. Among those receiving awards are programs that promote active lifestyles, education, and fun for children and teenagers.

“We’re proud to continue the Fund’s

focus on enriching the health and wellbeing of local residents,” said Crista F. Durand, president of Newport Hospital. “By awarding these stellar programs, Newport Hospital is enhancing our commitment to promoting active, healthy lifestyles to the youngest residents of Newport County. We’re honored to support these organizations.”
