‘What Christians Believe and Why’ Series

Trinity Church is holding a series called “What Christians Believe and Why” on Sundays through June, from 9-9:45 a.m. in Honyman Hall. Based on the Apostles’ Creed, which was created to summarize the faith at the beginning of the Church’s life, each session will include a short video along with teaching and a discussion led by assisting priest Alan Neale. Spring Concert

The Choir School of Newport County will give a concert on Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. Three ensembles will perform a varied program, along with violinist Ealain McMullin from the Newport String Project, and musicians from the First Church of Christ, Newington, Conn. Piano Concert Series

Manabu Takasawa will perform a free piano concert on Sunday, May 14, at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. 401-423-1762.

Book Group Meeting

The Emmanuel Church book group will meet on Tuesday, May 16, at 6 p.m., in the Guild Room, 42 Dearborn St. The discussion will focus on “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” by Rebecca Skloot. 401-847-0675.

Chamber Choir Performance

Ensemble Companio, a chamber choir, will perform a concert entitled “Hope is my Philosophy” on Saturday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 61 Poplar Street, Suggested admission is $20, with $15 for seniors and students. 401-401- 848-2561.
