Zoning Board Update

The Newport Zoning Board of Review approved the conversion of the former Long Wharf Steakhouse restaurant, located at 142 Long Wharf, into a single-family dwelling at its meeting on Thursday, March 23. The building was currently being used as a sales and marketing office by Eastern Resorts Company. The conversion of the 2,444-squarefoot property, which is adjacent to the Inn at Long Wharf, had previously received approval from the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Review. The Inn at Long Wharf, with 50 units, is one of six timeshare properties in Newport and Jamestown owned by Wyndham Resorts.

On Monday, March 27, the board continued 16 petitions to the April 24 meeting. Among other matters, the board approved the construction of outside stairs at Midtown Oyster Bar, and the demolition of the existing home and pool at 21 Chastellux Ave. The home will be replaced by a single-family dwelling with an attached garage and pool.
