Join in on Discussion on Street Safety

The City of Newport’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission currently has six openings. The next meeting of the BPAC is on Thursday, March 2, at 5 p.m .at Bike Newport, 62 Broadway, directly opposite City Hall.

In 2015, due to having one of the two highest fatality rates in the state, the city was the recipient of a federal mini-grant to address improving pedestrian and bicyclist safety and reducing crashes. The result was the Newport Waves campaign, which may be re-funded this year.

Join the next BPAC meeting and learn more about the commission, participate in the discussion, and consider becoming a member of this important committee that can play an important role in improving safety on our roads.

If you have any question, contact Bari Freeman, past BPAC chair at bari@bikenewportri.org or 401- 619-4900 or Chuck Flippo at chuflippo@gmail.com. Other current commission members include Rebecca Bolan, Kerry Clougher and Brian Kiracofe.
