In recognition of Project Purple, listed below are some of the events.


Substance abuse prevention messages will be made in school announcements and halls will be decorated with student messages. A schoolwide assembly will be held at Rogers on Feb. 2 with Dan Converse giving a father’s side of the story.


The town will “Light the Town Purple” with neighborhood signs and decorations.

There will be an “I AM” activity at MHS and Gaudet with Islanders Committed-cross aged activities and at Forest Avenue Awards Night on Feb. 2.


Friday, Jan. 27, is the Patriots Committed third annual dodge ball tournament at Portsmouth High School new gym at 5:30 p.m., where various community and youth teams battle it out. The winning team will go one-to-one against first responder teams, and police and fire departments take their annual grudge match to the court one more time.

Tiverton, Little Compton and Jamestown are all participating with a variety of activities to show their support for the project.
