RECENT DEATHS

Catherine Lois Cayer, 73, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 14, 2017 at Newport Hospital. She leaves behind her life partner, Anthony G. Tobben, BMC, USN (Ret), two children and two grandchildren. She was the wife of the late James Cayer and mother of the late Anthony Soares. Donations in her memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI 02842.

William Heinrich Eibel, 67, of Jamestown, passed away Jan. 8, 2017 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Jean Marie (Larosee) Eibel. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and served during the Vietnam War, receiving three Purple Hearts. He leaves behind four children and seven grandchildren. Marjorie Mae Mercer, 93, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 14, 2017 at Newport Hospital. She leaves behind her daughter and three grandchildren. Funeral services were private.

John E. Nasser Jr., 88, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 10, 2017 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport. He was the husband of the late Catherine Eillen (Riegel) Nasser. He leaves behind his children, John Nasser (Jodi) of Middletown, Thomas Nasser (Christine) of Tiverton, and Nancy Lanier of Fla., seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Iolanda (Santopadre) O'Loughlin, 87, of Warren, passed away Jan. 6, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late Francis J. “Jerry” O’Loughlin. She leaves behind her children, Marie Jenkins (Peter) of Little Compton, Peter O’Loughlin of Warren, John O’Loughlin (Stephanie) of Portsmouth, Susan Olson (Donald) of Portsmouth, Thomas O’Loughlin of Middletown, and Stephen O’Loughlin of Mass., four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Christine Elizabeth Perry, 70, of Providence, formerly of Newport, passed away Jan. 1, 2017. She leaves behind her children: Elizabeth, Tylee, Ramea, Brenda Octaviano, and Kimberly Burdick, 29 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Eugene (Gene) Ferdinand Sartori passed away Jan. 15, 2017. He was the husband of the late Dottie Lerch. He leaves behind his wife, Shirley, four children, four stepchildren, and 12 grandchildren. A memorial service for him will be Friday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth.

Richard G. Silvia passed away Jan. 10, 2017. He was the husband of the late Audrey (Hull) Silvia. He leaves behind his children, Catherine (John) Geary, William (Carol) Silvia, Patricia Silvia, and Frank Silvia, seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Donald Vacchi, 80, passed away Jan. 13, 2017 in Providence. He was the husband of Diane Bucci of Middletown. He leaves behind three children and two grandchildren. He worked in Rhode Island public education for more than 30 years as a teacher in Tiverton and later as the principal at Hathaway School and Portsmouth Middle School. Joyce M. (Brinton) Woolhouse, 80, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 17, 2017 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late George W. “Ducky” Woolhouse. She leaves behind her children, Scott Woolhouse (Julie) of Newport, Patricia Johnson of Portsmouth, Debra Woolhouse of Middletown, Dolores Woolhouse of Newport, her son-in-law Jesus Meabe of Middletown, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 20, from 4-8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Newport.
