RECENT DEATHS

Barbara M. Day, 83, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 6, 2017. She was the wife of the late Gerald D. Day. She leaves behind her children, Joanne (Steven) Rawson of Fla., Kevin (Karen) of North Kingstown, Eileen (Timothy) Peterson of Vir., Joseph of Portsmouth, RI, and Gerald (Susanne) also of Portsmouth. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Richard James Gaston, 69, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 3, 2017 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Helena M. (Souto) Gaston. He leaves behind his children, Richard Gaston Jr. of Ga., David (Paula) of Mass. and two granddaughters. Gillian Conyers (Lowe) Hall, 90, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 7, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late Norman W. Hall. She leaves behind her children, Gayle (John) Amos of Ind., Richard (Lina) of Middletown, Michael (Dominique) of Australia, Jeffrey (Catherine) of North Smithfield, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth. William R. Harvey, 70, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 5, 2017 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Betty Lou Oakley Harvey. He leaves behind his children, William II (Karen) of Portsmouth, Bethany Stewart of Saunderstown, and Ryan (Alexis) of Mass., and eight grandchildren. John Theodore Parkos, 85, of Newport and Fla., passed away Jan. 5, 2017 at the Grand Islander Center, Middletown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. He leaves behind four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to Horizons, P.O. Box 323, South Windham, CT 06266.

Nancy J. Remka, 69, passed away Jan. 4, 2017 at the Grand Islander Center, Middletown after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Robert P. Remka. She was the mother of the late Paul B. Remka. Donations in her memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, P.O. Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.

Laura M. Wagoner, 52, passed away Jan. 8, 2017 after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. She leaves behind her husband, Gary Wagoner, her stepson, Phillip, of Bristol, son, Erik, of Barrington, and daughter, Elisha, also of Barrington.
