PSNC, Thanks A Million

The Newport Mansions celebrated an exciting milestone this week, announcing that one million visitors walked their historical halls in 2016, more than any New England museum outside of Boston. A large audience of tourism leaders, elected officials, and Preservation Society employees gathered at The Breakers on Tuesday, Jan. 10, to recognize the economic and cultural significance of the popular mansions, which employ 400 people locally. The Society operates four of its museums year-round: The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House and Rosecliff, which are also audio tour houses with five languages available (English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese). Other properties operate on a seasonal schedule from early spring to late fall. Throughout the year, the visitors came from all 50 states and at least 114 different countries.
