Free Computer Course

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 5, through Feb. 2, the Newport Public Library will facilitate a study group on Thursdays from 3 - 5 p.m. for learners who want to complete an online web design course. Offered by Udacity, a popular provider of web-based educational programs, “Introduction to HTML & CSS” will walk participants through the process of converting digital design mock-ups into static web pages.

This “guided MOOC” (massive online open course) is ideal for learners who want to take an online class in a face-to-face setting. A reference librarian will be present at each of the five meetings to help them through the course. Participants will get a support group for learning, access to new studying strategies, dedicated weekly study time and space, a network of co-learners, and the ability to learn in a low pressure environment.

More information, including the form for registering, is available at newportlibraryri.org/learn-html-css/. Participants must be able to commit to attending all class sessions. Questions can also be directed to reference staff at 401-847-8720 x 208.
