Two Community Chanukah Parties

Temple Shalom invites the community at large to a Chanukah party on Friday, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m. The celebration will be complete with dreidels, latkes, a candle lighting, singing, and, games. A dinner will follow at 6 p.m. Reservations are required to attend the dinner. The dinner cost is $10 per person or $15 per family. Congregation Jeshuat Israel at Touro Synagogue will host a community Chanukah party on Sunday, Jan. 1, from 3-5 p.m. at the Levi Gale House at 85 Touro St. Light the Chanukah candles and stay to enjoy latkes and all the trimmings, music, dancing, children’s entertainment and more. YES! Dance!

YES! Dance! will take place at St. Paul’s Barber Hall, 12 Marlborough St., on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 6:45 p.m. YES! Dance! affirms the power of movement, creativity and expression, embraces form and freedom, rhythm and flow both individually and collectively. Feast of the Epiphany

On Friday, Jan. 6, at 6:30 p.m., St. John’s Church will offer a Mass and Three Kings Procession for the Feast of the Epiphany, commemorating the visit of the Wise Men. This service of music features the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County and the St. John’s adult choir, along with organ music. Men's Bible Study at Seamen's Aloha Cafe

On Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:30 a.m., a small group of men meet at the Seamen's Church Institute, 18 Market Square, to consider, discuss and debate the relevance of the Bible for the 21stcentury, postmodern man. Among the subjects are love, commitment, family, and work as seen through the lens of the Old and New Testaments.
