Choral Concert

St. Mary’s Parish and Youth choirs will perform their annual Advent concert on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 2-3 p.m. at the Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Ave. The concert is free and all are welcome. Contact Cody Mead, director of liturgical music, at 401-847-0475 for more information.

Open Door: Holiday Edition

Community Connections offers activities and caring support for those experiencing grief. Together the group will address cards, wrap gifts, create memorial ornaments and create a holiday plan that works for you. The support group will meet Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Hambly Brick House, 30 Red Cross Ave. These gatherings are free and open to the public.

‘Blue Christmas’ Service

Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, will hold a Blue Christmas service on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. to help people deal with the loss of a loved one, or those who struggle with a health or financial crisis or live with a difficult family situation. This quiet, meditative service will acknowledge the sense of grief or loss that might come with this time of the year, as well as offer the hope of the Christmas message. Live Nativity and Activities

St. Peter’s Church, located at 525 Broadway, will hold a Live Nativity, Sunday, Dec. 18, from 5-7 p.m. At 5 p.m., hear the Community Baptist Church choir. At 5:15 p.m., watch the Nativity Story on a big screen or enjoy cookies and cocoa and make crafts. Dress up and be part of the Nativity and pet the sheep. At 6:45 p.m., sing carols with the angels. In case of bad weather, all activities will be held inside. 401-846-9567.

Soup Kitchens

St. Peter’s Church, 525 Broadway, 401-846-9567, will hold a soup supper on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 5 p.m. United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown, 401- 849-5444, will hold a soup kitchen on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

The Changing Table

The Changing Table is a diaper bank to help families in our community. Although diapers and wipes are sometimes available at local food pantries, the need surpasses the availability. Donations can be made and are available at the United Baptist Church, 30 Spring St., or through service providers who work directly with families that need them. Warm-Up Wednesdays

St. Paul's faith community welcomes all for hot cocoa, tea, coffee and refreshments each Wednesday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. Enjoy lively conversation and fellowship or find a quiet, welcoming space to relax. Enter the front doors at 12 Marlborough St. 401-846-0966.
