RECENT DEATHS

Susan Gately Benton, 76, of Virginia, formerly of Newport, passed away Nov. 16, 2016. She leaves behind her husband, Michael Benton, two sons, and two grandsons. Donations may be made in her memory to the Potter League for Animals, P.O. Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.

Lois A. Crowell, 92, of Newport, passed away Nov. 18, 2016 at the Village House. She worked at the Newport Naval Base and Naval Hospital for more than 40 years. The street “Lois Lane” near the Naval Base was named in her honor.

Stanley Hurley, 52, of Middletown, passed away Nov. 16, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, LaNora “Siren” (Brandon) Hurley; his children, Shane Hurley of Middletown, Mya Benz of Newport, and Kayla Stewart (Caleb) of South Carolina; and one grandson.

Helen E. Jones, 93, of Portsmouth, passed away Nov. 12, 2016 at the St. Clare Home. She was the wife of the late Lt. Commander John “Skip” Jones. She served in the Army Corps of Nurses during World War II. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the spring. Joseph M. Jordan, 94, of Middletown, passed away Nov. 14, 2016 at Village House Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Julia (Soeira) Jordan. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He leaves behind three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to James L. Susan Coggeshall King, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away Nov. 13, 2016. Donations in her memory may be made to the VNS of Newport and Bristol Counties, vnsri.org.

Liselotte Mueller, 95, passed away Nov. 16, 2016, at the John Clarke Retirement and Nursing Center, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Karl Mueller. She leaves behind her daughter, Ursula Lopes of Portsmouth, son, Peter Mueller of Calif., and three grandchildren.

Alexander Warch, 21, of Middletown, passed away Nov. 17, 2016 at Newport Hospital. He was the son of Kathleen Warch of Ocala, Florida. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 4-6 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.

Michael Lee Woll, 66, of Portsmouth, passed away Nov. 16, 2016. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving three tours in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. He leaves behind his children, Thomas Woll (Abby) of Portsmouth, Christopher Woll (Kelly) of Mass., and Nicole Woll of Tiverton, and six grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
