Wharf Sprucing Time

The holiday season is just around the corner. All around the city and the island, activities are gearing up, despite the unseasonably warm temperatures. The 22-foot-high tree, donated from Oakland Farm in Portsmouth, was put in place at Bowen's Wharf on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and the wharf is readying for the City of Newport’s Illuminated Boat Parade and its second annual Holiday Block Party on Friday, Nov. 25. As the flotilla motors by, savor some hot cider and steel drum music by Panoramic View located at “The North Pole.” Christmas in Newport officially begins in Washington Square on Thursday, Dec. 1. Watch for all the details in NTW’s calendar in print and online. The Bowen’s tree lighting is Saturday, Dec. 3. (Photo by Trixie B. Wadson / Bowen’s Wharf Co.)
