RECENT DEATHS

Robert L. Barrows, 87, of Newport, passed away Sept. 28, 2016 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport. He leaves behind his wife, Janice Marion (Sharples) Barrows; a son, David Barrows (Valerie); a grandson; and four great-grandchildren. Rebecca Joan (Coolbeth) Giroux, 58, of Newport, passed away Oct. 2, 2016. She leaves behind her children, Gregory Giroux (Cindy), Laura (Reggie), Derek Metivier, 12 grandchildren, and a great -grandson. Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 7, from 3-6 p.m in the Hambly Funeral Home, “Brick House.” Donations in her memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, P.O. William R. Gray Jr., 77, of Middletown, passed away Oct. 3, 2016. He leaves behind his wife, Margaret C. (Robb) Gray; his children, Merily Gray (Charles Chavis) of East Providence, Allan Gray (Amy) of Middletown; and three grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m.-noon at Memorial Funeral Home. Immediately following there will be a gathering for family and friends. Donald Lowden, 78, of Middletown, passed away Sept. 29, 2016. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with 22 years of service around the world (including three stints in Vietnam). He leaves behind his wife, Dolores “Del” Gomes, eight children, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, shrinershospitals.org.

Ralph Nassa, 90, of Newport, passed away Oct. 1, 2016. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and served in World War II. He leaves behind his wife, Jeanne (Hennessey) Nassa; three stepchildren, Karen Hennessey (Kevin McGroarty), Kathi Hennessey (Daryl Van Nuland), Susan Frost (Buck); three children, Ralph, Donna and Mary Ann Nassa; and five grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
