BankNewport recently presented a check for $50,000 to Lucy’s Hearth–a significant financial contribution which helped the Hearth surpass the $1.6 million fundraising goal needed to renovate its new building and grounds at 19 Valley Road in Middletown. A large family unit in its new building will be named for the bank. There will be a grand opening of the new facility on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The following week, the fifth annual Fall for Lucy’s Hearth autumn fundraiser will be held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Thursday, Oct. 20. The event will benefit the Hearth’s transitional housing program for mothers and their children. After more than 30 years in a leased building, the organization will continue offering the critical programs that have resulted in many success stories. Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while supporting this beloved local institution. Tickets are $85 per person. To learn more about Lucy’s Hearth’s programs, services, or either of these special events, call 401-847-2021 or visit lucyshearth.org.
