RECENT DEATHS

George E. Elshant Jr., 65, of Middletown, passed away Aug. 29, 2016 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport. He leaves behind his wife, Catherine “Cate” E. (Smith) Elshant; his children, Gregory Elshant (Christina) of Portsmouth, Daniel Elshant (Danielle), Paul Elshant (Erica), and Amy Elshant, all of Middletown; and three grandchildren. Rosemary T. Grauer, 62, of Newport, passed away Sept. 2, 2016 at Newport Hospital after a short illness. She leaves behind her two brothers and her sister. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Sept. 8, at Jesus Saviour Church, Newport. Evelyn LeDoux (formerly Evelyn Tonnes), 97, of Middletown, passed away Sept. 1, 2016. She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Tonnes and of the late John F. Gilmore. She leaves behind her three daughters, Diane McNamara (Dennis) of Middletown, Kathryn Poremski (Mark) of Portsmouth, and Deborah Tonnes of Cranston. John P. Means, 71, of Florida, formerly of Middletown, passed away Sept. 3, 2016. He was the husband of Cathy M. Means. He was a 34-year U.S. Navy veteran. John D. Murphy, of Newport, passed away Aug. 30, 2016 at Heatherwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Newport. He was the husband of the late Janet Murphy. Donations in his memory may be made to INSIGHT Vision Rehabilitation, 43 Jefferson Blvd. #1, Warwick, RI 02888.
