New Bill for Bettering Families

Hank Kniskern and Andy Vouras Hank Kniskern and Andy Vouras The second annual fundraiser to benefit the Baby Steps program was held at the Chinese Tea House on the grounds of Marble House on Sept. 1. The cocktail party included Chinese canapes, a seafood buffet, and a live performance by Abbey Rhode. Baby Steps is an early childhood initiative developed by the East Bay Community Action Program for parents of young children, based on the Rhode Island early learning standards. It is designed to educate parents on how to help their children develop as independent learners.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, Sen. Teresa Paiva Weed and Gov. Gina Raimondo officiated at EBCAP for a bill signing ceremony of the Rhode Island Family Home Visiting Act. Paiva Weed said, “I want to thank Gov. Raimondo. She understands the importance of providing a nurturing environment from the earliest ages and throughout schooling, and I am grateful to have worked with her on many important initiatives to give children a strong start in life.”
