FILM Fundraiser Ensures Year-round Film Presence

Susan Duca, Michelle Eckhart and Andrea McHugh Susan Duca, Michelle Eckhart and Andrea McHugh Just two days following the outdoor screening of “Bill Cunningham New York” at OceanCliff, where people set up for the picnic contest and listened to live music prior to the screening, newportFILM held its seventh annual summer cocktail party benefit at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Presented by the de Ramel Foundation and supported by Isoude, the party is the year-round documentary film festival's biggest fundraising event.

Specialty drinks by Svedka Vodka and savories by Blackstone Caterers were enjoyed by the more than 350 guests on the horseshoe piazza. Attendees left with thank-you gifts including wrap bracelets from Rhode Island-made lifestyle brand, Kiel James Patrick.

The spectacular night brought in a record $180,000 to further newportFILM’s mission of educating, enlightening and creating community dialogue through documentary film. newportFILM's year-round programming for all ages focuses on such topics as social justice, environmental health, culture and education. The nonprofit has become a vital part of the cultural fabric and vibrancy of Rhode Island's arts community.
