‘Working Cities’ Grant

Newport is among seven Rhode Island cities and towns to have been awarded a “Working City” design grant to further initiatives on behalf of low-to-moderate income residents.

Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Eric Rosengren, Gov. Gina Raimondo, local business leaders, and representatives from national and local philanthropic organizations will present $15,000 grants to the cities of Newport, Providence, Pawtucket, Cranston, East Providence, Central Falls, and Westerly at AS220, in Providence, on Friday, Aug. 12.

Design grant awards are the first stage of the bank’s Working Cities Challenge, an economic development effort designed to strengthen collaboration and leadership in this sector of city populations. The City of Newport’s “Working Cities” collaborative partners include the Boys & Girls Club, Newport Partnership for Families, Newport Housing Authority, and CCRI.
